Technical Support Specialist – Agricultural Precision Products

We currently have an opening for a Technical Support Specialist in Olathe, Kansas.

The Technical Support Specialist plays an important role in the interaction with dealers in helping them to troubleshoot and solve problems and document issues related to service or product requirements.
The Technical Support Specialist should be good at problem solving, critical thinking, and multitasking. A working knowledge of precision agricultural tools and agricultural equipment is desired. Familiarities with GPS, auto-steering, flow and rate controls are critical components.
Applicant should have excellent communication, organizational and people skills. Requires knowledge of agricultural equipment, operation, application, and industry.
Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with little direct supervision.
Must be dedicated to becoming an expert on Topcon Precision Ag Products.
Needs an excellent understanding of customer service and support requirements with respect to implementation and management of new and existing positioning technologies.
Responsibilities will include the following:
- Technical (phone) support for dealers, end users and internal Topcon staff (Primary)
- Document reason for the call, identify the solutions, refer to service or involve other relevant contact for problem escalation.
- Support dealers and customers with onsite (post-sale) instruction and technical support issues
- Assist in the development of product related instructional programs and technical support documentation
- Assist in the development and maintenance of product educational materials
- Delivery of product instruction – Classroom and onsite (customer).
- Assist in field visits to troubleshoot customer problems.
- Assist Product Managers with the development of quick guides and operation manuals
- Support Software Engineering with system validation testing
- Collaborate with others worldwide in the support and training department to document and resolve customer support issues.
- Other tasks as directed by manager
Experience/Skills:
- Bachelors Degree in Agriculture or related technical field.
- 2+ years experience working in a technical role or support position ideally in the precision agricultural industry.
- A strong background in the use of agricultural tools application programs.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Good training and presentation skills
- Srong desire to learn and contribute in a team environment
- Ability to solve technical problems in the field.
- Proficient in computer use and Microsoft Office Software and PowerPoint and CRM software
- Experience with Topcon GPS and agricultural precision products is beneficial.
- 25 – 50% Travel required
